Expo 2020 Dubai approaches 3 million visitors

Half-term and public holidays such as the Prophet’s birthday have contributed to the event’s high visitor turnout

Expo 2020 Dubai has recorded nearly three million visits since its opening on 1 October 2021.

Organisers have recorded 2,942,388 visits, of which 100,000 were schoolchildren, with more students expected to tour the Expo site during the Knowledge and Learning Week to be held from 12 to 18 December 2021.

Since its launch, Expo 2020 Dubai has marked several cultural events including UAE Flag Day and Diwali, which featured a strong entertainment line-up, including India’s Salim and Sulaiman Merchant, as well as Bollywood singer Vipul Mehta.

The site also hosted the first-ever official sporting event to be staged at a World Expo as the world’s best cyclists contested Giro d’Italia Criterium. The event coincided with the ongoing Dubai Fitness Challenge. Olympic gold medallist and 11-time world champion Usain Bolt will also make an appearance at the Expo site on 13 November to lead a family run.

Rounding out an action-packed month, Expo 2020 Dubai will host performers including Nancy Ajram and Ragheb Alama at Al Wasl Plaza on 12 November.

On the same day, KITE, a K-pop concert, will welcome acts including Highlight and Punch.
