Group to open The Medlock hotel connected to Manchester’s Etihad Stadium

Radisson Hotel Group is building a new 401-room hotel at the Etihad Stadium, home of Manchester City football club in the UK.

Due to open in 2026, the four-star The Medlock (rendering pictured) will be connected to the stadium that is sponsored by Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways, and provide accommodation and experiences tailored to sport and music fans.

As well as being the home for the Premier League football club, the stadium also hosts regular high-profile concerts, allowing Radisson to tap into the gig-tripping trend highlighted by recent tours from the likes of Taylor Swift and Coldplay, with the latter completing a sell-out series of concerts in Abu Dhabi in January 2025.

Manchester, in the north of England, is synonymous with youth culture, sport and music. It is home to two football clubs with international fanbases, and bands including Oasis and Take That.

The Medlock hotel will offer guests a variety of rooms and suites, plus a luxury penthouse suite. There will be multiple food & beverage outlets, plus access to the stadium’s conference and events facilities. The hotel will be operated by management company Valor Hospitality.

Football fans will also be able to enjoy stadium tours and matchday experiences

Elie Younes, Global Chief Development Officer at Radisson Hotel Group, said the hotel was a "fantastic addition" to a growing portfolio of several stadium-based properties in the UK. These include the renowned cricket ground, Edgbaston Stadium, the Allianz Stadium Twickenham, Home of England rugby and worldwide in India and China.

Announced in July 2024, the Radisson RED Birmingham Edgbaston Stadium will feature 146 rooms including 85 with pitch-facing balconies, some convertible into hospitality spaces.

Radisson RED London Twickenham Stadium is set to open in 2025.

The newly named Starwood Hotels also has its eyes on Manchester, opening a Treehouse Hotel in the city in 2025.
