The famed chef will host a series of signature dinners at the luxury resort
Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi will host renowned chef Gregoire Berger of Michelin-starred restaurant Ossiano in Dubai for an exclusive culinary residency from 12 to 23 July 2023.
A native of the Morbihan region of Brittany, France, Berger spearheaded the 2014 launch of Ossiano, the renowned Michelin-starred 'underwater' restaurant at Atlantis, The Palm, in Dubai.
As well as ranking 87th best restaurant in the world in The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2023, Ossiano also ranked 4th and highest new entry in the 2023 Middle East and Africa's 50 Best Restaurants.
At Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, guests can appreciate the unspoiled natural beauty of the Maldives while indulging in chef Berger's culinary masterpieces.
Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi director of culinary Ivan Alvarez said: "Chef Berger has honed his skills at some of the world's most celebrated restaurants, crafting distinctive dining experiences that fuse his personal heritage with iconic local elements.
"We look forward to chef Berger bringing his culinary artistry to Ithaafushi, showcasing not only his renowned mastery of fish and shellfish but also exploring a diverse array of ingredients to indulge our senses."
Berger’s residency will begin with a three-day takeover at Terra, a romantic treetop venue for intimate dinners. From 14 to 16 July, Berger will serve a special seven-course meal to guests cocooned in Terra's signature hand-crafted bamboo dining pods. Each evening's meticulously designed menu will be accompanied by a number of surprising amuse-bouche creations.
The visit will culminate in a six-hands dinner on 17 July at The Ledge with Dave Pynt of Singapore's Michelin-starred Burnt Ends restaurant and Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi's director of culinary Ivan Alvarez.
