Top 20 places to propose

New research by Remitly reveals the destinations where travellers are most likely to pop the question 

After analysing Google search results, Remitly has published a list of the most popular places in the world to propose.

Remitly, which specialises in helping people send money abroad, compiled the results from hundreds of millions of social media posts, sorted by location and hashtag, as well as other data points.

Unsurprisingly, Paris, France takes the top spot, closely followed Las Vegas in the USA and Rome in Italy.

Remitly data revealed that there were 49,700 successful proposals in Paris, with partners saying ‘yes’ against a selection of quintessential Parisian backdrops.

In Las Vegas, 18,700 people said ‘yes’, representing a fraction of with 38.8 million people visiting the city in 2022. 

More than 29 million hashtags on Instagram mentioned Rome in 2022, and one in 400 Instagram posts with the city's hashtag was about a proposal.

According to Remitly, the top 20 locations for proposals are:

  8. London
  9. Venice
  10. Bali
  11. Florence
  12. Barcelona
  13. Yosemite
  14. Sydney

  18. Grand Canyon
  19. Cliffs of Moher
  20. Dubrovnik
