Targeting GCC travellers, villas have new air-con units, bathrooms and pool decks
Popular with GCC travellers, The Residence Zanzibar has undergone a series of resort upgrades to strengthen its appeal.
Enhancements to the resort's 66 villas include new air-conditioning units and upgraded bathrooms. Pillow menus have been extended for greater guest comfort, and, outside, private pool decks have been replaced.
To ensure a smoother arrival experience, the road leading up to the resort has been resurfaced. Further to this, a new partnership with an airport transfer and excursion service provider will elevate excursions and airport meet-and-greet services, which now feature amenities including face towels, bottled water and in-car Wi-Fi in upgraded vehicles.
New water sports equipment has been procured for adults and the kids’ club has introduced additional facilities, including a trampoline, a seesaw and a snakes-and-ladders game.
In addition, young guests can enjoy a weekly programme of outdoor games, cooking classes and painting sessions.

The Residence Zanzibar has also increased its commitment to sustainability. A water bottling plant has been installed to provide guests with water. A sewage treatment plant has also been installed, and a linen change programme has been implemented to help conserve water.
Single-use plastics, including straws, have been eliminated while villa amenities made from recycled materials or bamboo and wood ensure zero plastic waste.
Three-acre spice farm Earth Basket is under development. It will cultivate local herbs, spices and fruits, offering guests a taste of Zanzibar's agriculture. Additionally, the resort is supporting the community by purchasing fresh produce from its markets.
