Swiss airline to offer free chat connectivity to long-haul passengers

Passengers in all classes of travel will be able to use chat services with no data limit

Swiss International Air Lines customers will have complimentary access to the internet for chat services on all long-haul routes from 2 August 2023.

The facility will allow passengers in all classes of travel to send and receive free text and picture messages via their smartphone, laptop or tablet on chat and messenger services, including WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Telegram, for the duration of the flight.

Passengers wishing to use additional internet functions – such as browsing, email or social media – can choose from two optional additional packages, available from US$28.

‘Wi-Fi 4 Hours’ offers four hours of access for US$28, while ‘Wi-Fi Premium’ provides access throughout any flight duration for US$40.

Travellers in First Class and HON Circle Members are eligible for unlimited internet access throughout the flight free of charge.

All travellers will be able to read the digital version of SwissMagazine on their devices at any time, without activating internet access.
