Karim Abdelhamid previously worked at Sofitel in Egypt and America
Sofitel Al Hamra Beach Resort has announced the appointment of Karim Abdelhamid as general manager.
As GM, Abdelhamid will play an essential role in shaping the newly-open family-friendly resort in Ras Al Khaimah, which features luxury rooms and suites, four pools, and seven bars and restaurants.
Speaking about his new role, Abdelhamid said: “I'm honoured to return to the Sofitel brand and begin this new chapter as Sofitel marks their 60th Diamond Anniversary. Having previously worked with Sofitel Legend Old Cataract in Egypt and Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square, I am thrilled to be leading an exceptional team of talents at Sofitel Al Hamra, setting new benchmarks in bespoke experiences and extending the French luxury lifestyle and elegance alongside the Arabian spirit.”

Abdelhamid has more than 25 years of experience in managing luxury and lifestyle properties globally, including her previous turns with Sofitel. He has also worked at The Plaza Hotel – A Fairmont Property, The Knickerbocker Hotel and The Ritz Carlton Central Park in New York, and the Intercontinental Festival City in Dubai.
During his last assignment as vice president of Hotel Operations at The First Group in Dubai, Abdelhamid demonstrated leadership in driving operational success across the group’s diverse hotel portfolios. His strength also lies in F&B operations, having previously held positions overseeing Michelin-starred restaurants and banquets in large convention centres in both the US and the UAE.
In addition, Abdelhamid has also been instrumental in developing nine ultra-luxury hotels for prestigious brands including Mandarin Oriental, Park Hyatt and Capella.
