The Ritz-Carlton Rabat, Dar Es Salam is now open
Marriott's first The Ritz-Carlton hotel has opened in the Moroccan capital of Rabat, debuting the brand in the African continent.
The Ritz-Carlton Rabat, Dar Es Salam is set among 440 hectares of green space, and has 117 rooms and suites overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012, Rabat is home to many monuments and galleries embracing the region's Hispano-Moorish heritage.
Located just a few minutes' drive from the historic centre and the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, The Ritz-Carlton Rabat, Dar Es Salam is embellished with muqarnas, a type of 3D ceiling decoration, which is an Arab-Andalusian architectural element from the Almoravid era.
Besides high ceilings, the property features Rococo chandeliers and a lobby with bonsai trees at its centre.
Divided into 100 guest rooms and 17 suites, the accommodations have been designed in a mix art deco and Moroccan traditions. The walls have carved plaster Moroccan ‘Gebs’ (gypsum) frescoes that share the stories of Morocco through their motifs.
The Andalusian-style gardens and fountains add to the hotel's ambiance, and there's a pool amid the opulent surroundings, furnished with sun beds and shaded cabanas.
The Ritz-Carlton Spa has an indoor pool inspired by Roman baths, as well as saunas, hammams, 10 massage rooms and two couple’s suites, as well as a fitness centre, open 24/7 and offering stunning views of the palace's bordering gardens and the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, with its three golf courses offering 45 holes spread across the 440-acre oak forest.
