Etihad Airways to resume Johannesburg flights in March

The announcement follows news that flights from the UAE to 12 African countries have resumed

The UAE’s national carrier, Etihad Airways has announced that it will resume services to Johannesburg from 3 March 2022.

Passengers arriving from the South African city will be required to present a negative PCR test result obtained within 48 hours of their departure and a negative rapid PCR test obtained within six hours of their departure from the airport. They will also need to take a PCR test on arrival at Abu Dhabi international airport.

Along with South Africa, the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) has announced the resumption of passenger services to Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Congo, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

The authority also announced updated entry procedures for passengers coming from Uganda, Ghana and Rwanda.

Elsewhere in the UAE, Dubai-based airline Emirates has confirmed the resumption of double daily flights to Johannesburg and daily services to Cape Town and Durban from 1 February 2022.
