Dnata Travel launches UAE-focused Maldives campaign

Indian Ocean destination sees 33% increase in arrivals from UAE in Q1 2025

Dnata Travel has joined forces with the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) to deliver a UAE-focused campaign ahead of the peak summer travel season.

The partnership comes as new data shows arrivals from the UAE to the Maldives up 33% in the first quarter of 2025, compared to the same period last year, according to MMPRC.

Running April to July 2025 across Dnata Travel’s digital and retail platforms, the campaign will offer UAE travellers exclusive holiday packages, tailored promotions and curated experiences. These curated packages will showcase how the archipelago can be reimagined for repeat guests with island-hopping itineraries, authentic cultural exchanges and conservation-focused activities.

“Through this partnership, we’re excited to deliver even more value to our customers, from limited-time offers to insider access, at a time when interest in the destination is surging,” said Meerah Ketait, Head of Retail and Leisure UAE at Dnata Travel.

Just over a four-hour flight from the UAE, the Maldives in the Indian Ocean continues to be one of the most in-demand destinations for UAE travellers.

All-business-class boutique airline Beond is expanding connections between the GCC and the Maldives, launching a new Male-Abu Dhabi route and beginning flights between the Maldives and Kuwait, Bahrain and Jeddah.

Made up of 26 atolls, 1,200 small islands and more than 120 properties, there are a wide selection of luxury resorts and private island escapes to choose from, alongside marine-focused activities, high-end cuisine and immersive and exclusive experiences.

Sun Siyam Olhuveli's new ocean-facing pool

This year will see a raft of new openings, giving UAE travellers even more options. Centara Grand Lagoon has debuted alongside sister resort Mirage Lagoon on a multi island in the North Male Atoll; JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort opened in February with 80 overwater and beachfront villas; the W Maldives has reopened following a multi-million-dollar “full-scale” renovation; and Sun Siyam Olhuveli recently unveiled 100 redesigned beachfront pavilions and opened the Maldives’ longest pool, an ocean-facing masterpiece with a sunken bar.

Arriving later this year is Aman Maldives, a 68-key resort set to take up residence on a private island in the archipelago's Vaavu atoll.

The Maldives welcomed more than 2 million tourists worldwide in 2024, marking a 9.1% increase over the previous year’s arrivals, according to the country’s Ministry of Tourism.
