Dnata sees 30% surge in demand for unaccompanied minor travel

Agents are trained to ensure children feel safe and comfortable during solo journeys

This year, Dnata has assisted more than 6,000 unaccompanied minors, aged between five and 12 years old, from check-in to boarding at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC).

These figures are set to grow with a 30% year-on-year increase anticipated on 2022's numbers.

To accommodate demand, Dnata aims to enhance its offering to provide a smooth experience for young travellers.

With an expert team, comprehensive training and a specially designed lounge, the air and travel services provider says it is setting new standards for the well-being and comfort of unaccompanied minors.

Agents ensure that all personal documents are correct, from the identification of the guardian handing over or collecting the minor, to the handover of the minor to the cabin crew.

Dnata's dedicated unaccompanied minor lounge is located at Dubai International’s Terminal 1. The facility provides an entertaining space for young travellers to relax and play in before their flights, and lounge staff work closely with airline colleagues to ensure unaccompanied minors arrive at their gate on time.
