Managed in collaboration with Chiva-Som, the resort is a first of its kind in the Middle East
Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som, Qatar’s largest wellness resort and the world’s first to offer TAIM – Traditional Arabian and Islamic Medicine – and holistic therapy, while being committed to sustainability and preserving its surrounding ecosystem.
Falling in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 in the social and environmental development pillar, the resort, which strives to minimise its carbon footprint through reducing its energy and water consumption, using renewable energy sources and recycling, has introduced several green initiatives.
Zulal Wellness Resort general manager Daniele Vastolo said: “Zulal Wellness Resort adopts several measures and technologies to reduce the resort’s environmental impact because we believe that personal wellbeing goes hand-in-hand with that of the environment.”
To keep its beaches clean, Zulal Wellness Resort uses BeBOT, an innovative robot beach cleaner
The BeBOT is a solar-powered beach cleaning robot that not only helps protect the environment, but it does so without polluting it. It uses batteries and solar panels, and therefore emits no greenhouse gases. As it cleans the beach, it sorts plastic and other waste, leaving a clean strip of sand in its wake.

Zulal Wellness Resort also puts water preservation at the heart of its efforts and has installed a sewage treatment plant along with water aerator systems throughout.
Its efforts have resulted in an overall water consumption reduction of 30%
Water is sourced and managed responsibly throughout the resort. Lagoons collect water from bore wells, the water is then treated with ozone generators which disinfect it using UV lamps.
The resort is committed to minimising waste. Organic waste is used for composting and as animal feed.
Recycled wood and biodegradable materials are used in place of plastic.
