The online booking platform will promote Japan's ski resorts and snow festivals
Wego has partnered with the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) to develop a promotional campaign that will highlight the best winter experiences the country has to offer.
Speaking about the initiative, Wego chief commercial officer and managing director, MENA and India, Mamoun Hmedan said: “Japan has a wealth of cultural and natural treasures that are sure to inspire visitors. This partnership allows us to help travellers discover the unique beauty of the country.”
JNTO Dubai executive director Daisuke Kobayashi added: “Through this joint promotion with Wego, we will introduce the new charm of Japan to people in Saudi Arabia.
"The greatest feature of Japan is the diversity that allows you to enjoy the natural scenery of each season and unique experiences throughout the year, especially in winter. You can try skiing on the powder snow, which is said to be among the best in the world; enjoy hot pot dishes made with seasonal ingredients such as crabs and oysters, and relax at hot springs."
Japan is famous for its hot springs, in which visitors can soak in warm, therapeutic waters often found in peaceful, natural surroundings. In addition, skiers can visit resorts such as Niseko, Hakuba and Nozawa Onsen.
Some of the country's most spectacular winter festivals include the Sapporo Snow Festival, the Akita Kandatsu Kogen Snow Festival, and the Yokote Kamakura Festival. These events feature giant snow sculptures and ice lantern displays, among other winter wonders.
Experiences will be promoted across all of Wego’s marketing channels.
