Visit Bahrain targets German, Russian and British markets

The tourism office signed several agreements with European partners during ITB Berlin

Visit Bahrain has signed agreements with numerous travel and tourism organisations that will aim to bring up to 28,000 European visitors to the kingdom between September 2023 and March 2024.

According to Visit Bahrain's CEO, Ali Amralla, the agreements signed at ITB Berlin are the largest in the company's history and will focus on the European market, specifically aiming to attract tourists from Germany, Russia and Britain.

With visits by European tourists lasting an average of six days, Visit Bahrain will aim to highlight a variety of heritage and historical locations along with retail destinations.

Amralla commented: "These agreements are part of a larger strategy that Visit Bahrain has implemented to attract tourists from all over the world, but specifically from Europe. The company initiated a programme in January to bring 4,500 German tourists to Bahrain in 2023. Over the past few weeks, about 1,800 Germans already visited Bahrain in groups.

"The Ministry of Tourism and BTEA [Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority] provided us with full support during our recent participation at ITB Berlin. The minister of tourism, Her Excellency Fatima bint Jaafar Al-Sairafi, personally attending this event had a significant impact on fostering cooperation with our partners from tourism agents around the world."
