The Leela Ashtamudi, A Raviz Hotel opens in Kerala

The 93-key resort includes two historic cottages and two pool villas, plus houseboat access

The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has announced the opening of its second hotel in Kerala, The Leela Ashtamudi, A Raviz Hotel.

The new property joins The Leela Kovalam, A Raviz Hotel, located on a clifftop in Kerala.

A two-hour drive from Thiruvananthapuram airport, the Ashtamudi resort is perched on the banks of the shimmering Ashtamudi Lake. It offers a backwater experience that balances barefoot luxury with rustic charm. Serene waters, landscaped greenery and swaying coconut trees create a tranquil atmosphere ideal for holidaymakers who want to unplug.

With 93 keys spanning rooms, suites and "experiential houses", the accommodation reflects the traditional Nalukettu aesthetic of Kerala, accented with traditional artefacts and furnishings.

Guests can choose between the Tower Wing or the Heritage Wing, or elevate their experience by upgrading to one of the two resort villas featuring private plunge pools.

The resort also features two traditional Tharavadu cottages, once home to Kerala's aristocracy, called Erattupetta and Anchal. Staying here helps guests relive a rich history of past residents that dates back more than 200 years.

Guest can also take a tranquil backwater cruise on Mahayana, a houseboat that comes with all the comforts of a hotel and is evocative of everything that is quintessentially Kerala.

The resort houses F&B venues: Keraleeyam, Portico Café, a floating dining experience at Raanthal, and Zirkon aqua-themed bar.

The resort’s Favourite Kerala Ayurveda and Spa offers an extensive menu of rejuvenating massages, therapies, and detoxification programmes inspired by traditional techniques. Other leisure facilities include an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness centre.

Commenting on the opening, The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts CEO Anuraag Bhatnagar said: “We're delighted to welcome The Leela Ashtamudi, A Raviz Hotel, an exciting new addition to our brand portfolio. This expansion is in lockstep with the growing demand from the discerning global leisure traveller to experience meaningful and transformative journeys that are an authentic expression of a region’s beauty, heritage and culture.”
