Rotana opens its first hotel in Medina, Saudi Arabia

Al Manakha Rotana is the group’s 10th hotel in Saudi Arabia

Rotana Hotels & Resorts has officially opened its first property in the Holy City of Medina (Madinah).

The four-star Al Manakha Rotana, the group’s 10th hotel in Saudi Arabia, is a 512-room hotel situated in the centre of Medina, positioned in front of Islam’s second-holiest shrine, the Prophet’s Mosque, and surrounded by shops and cafes, as well as iconic historical sites such as Omar bin Khattab Mosque and Al Ghamamah.

It provides accommodation for travellers seeking a unique cultural experience and taking part in the annual Islamic pilgrimage, Haj.

Many of the rooms offer views of the Prophet’s Mosque. In addition, the property offers four dining venues, including two all-day dining restaurants, a lobby café and a rooftop terrace overlooking the cityscape.

Commecting on the opening, Rotana’s CEO Philip Barnes said: “We’re thrilled to inaugurate the new Al Manakha Rotana in the historic city of Madinah. Religious tourism remains a key pillar of Saudi’s economy and plays a vital role in supporting the Kingdom’s growth strategy. 

“Marking our 10th property opening in Saudi Arabia is a proud milestone for Rotana, reinforcing our commitment to the country and serving all travellers to the Holy City.”

Rotana is looking to launch an additional eight properties in Saudi Arabia during the next four years, bringing the total key count to more than 4,400 across 18 properties.

Other Saudi openings in the pipeline include four Edge by Rotana hotels and one Rayhaan by Rotana hotel in Riyadh, as well as three in Al Baha, all set to open by 2028.
