Revealed: The world’s most recovered country in travel

The travel industry has recovered more than two-thirds of its gross activity – and one country is leading the way

The UAE’s travel industry has reached 110% recovery following the Covid-19 pandemic, thanks in part to the country’s successful vaccination programme and impressive calendar of events, from Expo 2020 Dubai to the Dubai World Cup horse race.

Globally, to date, the travel industry has recovered more than two-thirds of its gross activity (67%) compared to 2019, a 14% increase from the recovery level at the end of 2021.

The UAE’s 110% recovery against 2019 levels makes it the most recovered country in the world

When considering individual cities, Riyadh in Saudi Arabia (115%) is the most recovered city in the Middle East, and in the world, Riyadh, followed by Dubai in the UAE (114%) ranked fourth and fifth respectively, behind Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (136%), Montego Bay, Jamaica (132%) and Cancun, Mexico (124%).
