Ras Al Khaimah to ring in NYE with two Guinness World Record attempts

The UAE adventure playground aims to attract tourists with record-breaking sky displays

It already has five New Year’s Eve-linked World Records under its belt from previous years and now Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), the northernmost emirate in the UAE, is looking to secure two more.

On 31 December 2022, as part of its family-focused New Year’s Eve festivities, which are due to last 12 minutes, the Emirate will try to break the world record for the ‘Most Remote Operated Drones launching Fireworks Simultaneously’ and set a new record for the ‘Largest Aerial Sentence Formed by Drones’.

Chief executive officer at Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, Raki Phillips said: “We're thrilled to be attempting another two Guinness World Record for our #RAKNYE2023 celebrations. Known as the ‘nature’ Emirate, due to its unique topography, everything we do in Ras Al Khaimah is magical by nature and we look forward to welcoming visitors from across the world to experience this spectacular feat.”
