Qatar Airways launches Doha-Medan route

The carrier will operate three weekly flights to the capital of Indonesia’s North Sumatra province

Qatar Airways’ inaugural flight from Doha to Medan in North Sumatra touched down at Kualanamu International Airport on 15 January 2024.

Medan is the airline’s third destination in Indonesia. The new direct service will complement the airline’s existing routes to Jakarta and Bali.

The new direct service to Medan is operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which includes 22 Business Class seats and 232 Economy Class seats. Doha-Medan flights will operate every Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

Flight QR966 will depart Doha at 02:40 and arrive in Medan at 13:30. On the return leg, flight QR967 will depart Medan at 19:00 and arrive back in Doha at 22:15.

The inaugural flight included a curated Indonesian menu, featuring dishes such as nasi goreng with beef satay, nasi lemak with prawn sambal and beef rendang.
