SalamAir to serve Egyptian and Indian capitals direct from its Muscat home base

SalamAir, Oman’s first low-cost airline, has launched direct flights to Cairo and New Delhi.

The service between Oman’s Muscat International Airport and Egypt’s Sphinx International Airport will start on 15 June, with three flights a week.

The launch aims to serve not only leisure travellers but also “the thriving Egyptian community residing in Oman”, a spokesperson for the airline said.

Ahmed Shidhani, CEO of SalamAir, said: “Cairo holds great appeal for many travellers, not only for its iconic history and landmarks, but also the immense infrastructural developments it’s currently seeing. We are proud to connect passengers from Oman and the rest of the GCC to this dynamic destination, offering them more choice, convenience and value for money”.

The service to the Indian capital will commence on 2 July, with twice-weekly flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The new routes follow the announcement by SalamAir that it will be commencing twice-weekly flights to Tirana, Albania's capital, from mid-June.

Tirana joins the summer roster alongside Baku in Azerbaijan, Almaty in Kazakhstan and Trabzon in Turkey.
