Oman recorded 348% YOY increase in visitors in 2022

The National Centre for Statistics and Information also recorded a significant increase in hotel revenues

The numbers issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicate a noticeable increase in visitors to the Sultanate of Oman in 2022.

According to NCSI, in 2022, 2.9 million people visited Oman, an increase of 348% compared to 2021.

Among the source markets, the UAE topped the ranking with 1.9 million visitors, followed by India (355,460), Yemen (106,529) and Germany (41,829).

The monthly statistical bulletin of tourism indicators issued by NCSI also revealed a 92% year-on-year increase in the revenues of hotels until the end of November 2022, reaching US$419 million. 

The total number of guests in hotels with a rating of three to five stars in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 34% reaching approximately 1.45 million guests by the end of November 2022, compared to 1.08 million guests in the same period in 2021, while the occupancy rate recorded a growth of 18%.

According to travel data and analytics company ForwardKeys, there was a significant increase in airline ticket reservations too. 

There was an increase of more than 93% in the number of visitors from global markets, mainly from European and Middle Eastern countries, from September to December 2022, compared to the same period in 2021
