Central European destination targets GCC markets in the push for a record-breaking summer season
Czechia – also known as the Czech Republic – in Central Europe is gearing up for a record-breaking summer tourism season set to surpass previous years and, according to statistics, tourists from the Gulf could be a contributing factor.
Data released by CzechTourism suggests that of the 22 million tourists the European country welcomed in 2023, 52,838 tourists were from the Gulf region, an increase of 50% on the previous year.
To help boost Gulf visitors numbers, Czech Tourism has partnered with flight booking platform Wego, the leading travel app in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to promote the destination.

The partnership will encourage travellers from the MENA region to consider holidaying in the Czechian region this summer by highlighting its tourist attractions across the app and its social media platforms.
Prague, the capital city, is at the crux of this tourism boom, attracting visitors worldwide with its steep history, architecture and culture.
Throughout July and August, Prague anticipates welcoming over 1.5 million tourists, marking a significant increase from previous years and underscoring its growing charm as a must-visit European city.
CzechTourism Director, František Reismüller said: "The summer season will be strong, with a substantial number of foreigners coming. Czechia is not just a destination, it’s an experience.
“From its rich historical sites to its diverse cultural offerings, every region of our country has a story to tell. This summer, we're excited to welcome even more visitors to explore the magic of our land.”
