Master plan revealed for The Rig, Saudi’s new tourism destination

The attraction will feature 800 guest rooms, 11 restaurants and an extreme adventure park

The master plan has been unveiled for The Rig, a new adventure tourism destination in Saudi Arabia.

The Rig is inspired by the design of offshore oil platforms, to celebrate the legacy and heritage of Saudi Arabia's long oil and gas industry.

The destination will span a floor area of more than 300,000 square metres, and will be located 40km from the coastline, near Al Juraid Island and Berri Oil Field in the Arabian Gulf.

Once completed, The Rig will seek to attract over 900,000 annual visitors by 2032, appealing to a wide range of regional and international visitors, including thrill seekers.
