Following a multi-million-dollar renovation, the rebranded grand hotel is back in business
Founded by Johannes Baur in 1838, the original property occupying the site of the new Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich was the city's first grand hotel.
Located on the famous Paradeplatz, the hotel lies steps from high-end fashion houses, the historic old town and the charming promenade leading to Lake Zurich.
Created by respected Paris-based interior designer Tristan Auer, the updated interiors merge historical details with modern style, using a carefully selected colour palette mirroring the hotel’s surroundings.
Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich features some of the city’s largest suites, including a lavish four-bedroom apartment spanning 275 square metres.
Many of the 44 rooms and 36 suites have balconies, terraces or private rooftops that offer views of the city’s landmarks and the Swiss Alps.
Meticulously crafted design elements, such as artisan hand-painted silk wallpapers, adorn the rooms and embody a contemporary style that contrasts with the building's architecture.
The hotel is home to four F&B outlets: ORSINI, led by consultant chef Antonio Guida from two-Michelin-starred Seta restaurant at Mandarin Oriental, Milan; French-inspired Savoy Brasserie & Bar; Mandarin Lounge, and the 1838 rooftop bar.
Given its prime location, Mandarin Oriental Savoy is primed for special occasions. A grand ballroom, now restored to its former glory, exudes old-world charm with authentic stucco, glistening mirrors and high ceilings.
