The Kuwait-based airline will fly to a third destination in Uzbekistan from March

Jazeera Airways has announced that it will launch twice-weekly direct flights to Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Samarkand features on the UNESCO World Heritage list and is home to several natural wonders and architectural landmarks.

Flight times are yet to be announced, but it's confirmed that the airline’s third route to the country will operate on Wednesday and Sunday starting from 1 March 2023.

Jazeera Airways was the first airline to connect Kuwait to Uzbekistan with direct flights to the capital city of Tashkent, twice a week and last year the airline also started flying to Namangan in eastern Uzbekistan in the northern edge of the Fergana Valley, is the administrative, economic and cultural centre of the Namangan Region.

Speaking about the new route, Jazeera Airways CEO Rohit Ramachandran said: “We have been steadily developing our presence in Central Asia, and Uzbekistan has been a particular success for us with continuing growth opportunities.

"We're pleased to be adding Samarkand to our network in the region. To date Samarkand has limited direct international flight connections and we are hoping that our direct flights from Kuwait will make the city more accessible for both inbound and outbound passengers.”
