Luxury eco-tourism island destination is a 30-minute boat ride from Durrat

Eco-luxury destination Hawar Resort is set to debut in Bahrain.

Open for bookings from 29 January 2025, the new resort, by conservation-focused hotel brand Mantis, marks the first of three tourism projects to launch on UNESCO-listed Hawar Island.

Just a 30-minute boat ride from Bahrain’s mainland, and surrounded by a thriving wildlife sanctuary, the 104-key resort includes rooms and suites in the main building as well as one-, two- and three-bedroom beach and overwater villas, which come with outdoor showers, private pools and access to the 1.8km beach.

Among other amenities, the resort offers a pool, beachfront spa, sporting facilities and five dining outlets. These include Bahri, which features a pre-set sharing menu showcasing the diversity of Bahraini cuisine, and C-Salt, a venue set to host seasonal pop-ups and celebrity chef appearances.

Activities on offer include kayaking, snorkelling, bird watching and cooking classes, and for families, there are kids’ and teens’ clubs, a water park and the Bear Grylls Adventure Zone.

Committed to sustainable practices and cultural heritage, the resort incorporates waste management systems and a recycling programme, and offers guests eco-friendly amenities and access to a conservation club.

Hawar Resort by Mantis is the first strategic project implemented under the master plan for the Hawar Islands archipelago.

Overseen by the Higher Authority for Hawar Islands Development, this plan aims to enhance the kingdom’s tourism appeal by capitalising on its unique position as the region’s only archipelagic nation, complemented by a rich marine environment and diverse islands.
