The Abu Dhabi-based carrier will resume flying to the Saudi city this month after a 19-month suspension
Etihad Airways will resume flights to the Saudi city of Madinah from 27 November 2021. The airline suspended the route in March 2020 due to Covid-19 flight restrictions, but travellers who wish to fly from Abu Dhabi to the holy city will be able to do so on the resumed services operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Flights will operate on a two-class Airbus A321, with a travel time of roughly three hours.
The resumption of the Madinah flights means that the carrier will increase its Saudi destination count to four cities, with routes to Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh already in operation.

Passengers flying to Saudi Arabia do not need to quarantine if they’re fully vaccinated with Pfizer, Oxford AstraZeneca, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Travellers who have received two doses of Sinopharm or Sinovac along with an additional dose of Pfizer, Oxford AstraZeneca or Moderna are also exempt from quarantine requirements.
Etihad Airways vice president sales UAE Fatma Al Mehairi said: “We look forward to reconnecting Abu Dhabi with Madinah, a city of enormous historic and religious significance for Muslims around the world. Our flights will support the growing demand for religious travel and strengthen the existing air links between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, a key travel market for Etihad Airways.”
