Etihad Airways to increase Abu Dhabi-Toronto flight capacity with A380

Etihad Airways to increase Abu Dhabi-Toronto flight capacity with A380

UAE carrier to add seats to meet demand for capital of Ontario, Canada

Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the UAE, is increasing capacity on its route from Abu Dhabi in the UAE to Toronto in Canada this summer.

The move follows Etihad's increase in its new service to Atlanta, also due to high demand.

Daily flights between Zayed Abu Dhabi International (AUH) and Toronto Pearson International (YYZ) will begin on 24 June 2025, with the route served by a larger aircraft, the A380.

This will see the debut of The Residence, Etihad’s unique signature three-room suite in the sky, in Canada for the first time.

Flights will depart AUH at 02:40 and arrive at YYZ at 09:00. The return route departs YYZ at 13:40 and arrives at AUH at 11:00 the following day.

Deploying the A380 on the popular Toronto route is a “strategic move” to meet customer demand for increased capacity while expanding the airline's network.

Etihad has launched a promotion until 5 March 2005, with return fares from AED3,500 in Economy

Etihad has served Toronto since 2005, and currently operates a 371-seat A350-1000. The double-decker A380 has 486 seats.

The increase in capacity gives more opportunity for guests to visit Abu Dhabi, either as a stopover or a final destination. Etihad’s Abu Dhabi Stopover programme allows travellers to extend their layovers with up to two complimentary nights at hotels in the city.

“Given Toronto's popularity among Etihad's customers, enhancing our capacity in the Canadian market is a logical step,” said Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, Etihad Airways. “This will strengthen connections to the broader GCC and Indian subcontinent and attract more visitors to experience the vibrant city of Abu Dhabi."

There are 337 Economy Smart seats plus 68 with extra legroom. On the upper deck of the A380, there are 70 Business Class seats, plus a serviced bar and lounge area The Lobby.

There are nine First Apartments with a leather lounge chair and separate ottoman that transforms into an 80-inch lie-flat bed. First-class passengers also have access to the exclusive shower room.

The Residence is suitable for up to two guests, and features a private living room, bedroom and ensuite bathroom with shower.

In December 2024, Qatar Airways began flights to Toronto from Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha three times a week.
