A Dubai desert safari experience has been ranked first place on Tripavisor’s Travellers' Choice Best of the Best Bucket List Experiences for the second year in a row.

The tour allows travellers to experience Dubai’s desert landscape and includes a 60-minute quad bike ride over the red dunes in Lahbab, as well as camel rides, sandboarding, stargazing and a traditional barbecue on the sand.

Operated by Dubai-based travel company OceanAir Travels the experience costs AED400 per person.

The tour also includes a trip to Al Khayma Desert Camp where guests can see live performances of Khaleeji dancing, try on traditional Emirati clothes and experience Henna paint tattoos.

Other experiences in the top five in the list include hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru, whale-watching in Alaska, Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way and off-roading in Aruba.

Dubai’s desert safari and dune-bashing experience was also ranked in fourth place in Tripadvisor’s Top Overall Experiences in the world list for 2023.

According to the latest research from Tripadvisor, 28% of global travellers are motivated by the opportunity to experience something new when travelling.

Tripadvisor general manager for experiences, Kate Urquhart said: “Experiences turn travellers into adventurers, connecting them with the local community and giving them unforgettable stories for years to come. Experiences on the platform are classified as bookable tours and activities.”
