Destination to include 10 pools, world’s longest lazy river and tallest water slide
Royal Caribbean has revealed details of its new private island in Mexico, with world record-breaking rides and industry-first experiences taking centre stage.
Opening in autumn 2027, Perfect Day Mexico is the cruise line’s second island destination after Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas and will be included in the line’s Western Caribbean itineraries sailing from Galveston, New Orleans and all Florida homeports.
The new island, which spans more than 200 acres on Mexico’s Caribbean coast, promises to be “bigger and bolder” than anything Royal Caribbean has done to date, with 10 pools that collectively span the size of four football fields and a lineup of never-before-seen features and all-new rides across seven neighbourhoods.
Loco Waterpark will be home to 30 water slides across five slide towers, including the tallest in the Americas, and will also feature the world’s longest coaster waterslide. Other highlights include hydro-launch slides that shoot riders into the air and the world’s first ‘sombrero’ slide.
Central neighbourhood Splash Cove will introduce the world’s longest lazy river, an hour-long ride with float-up bars and an optional detour to twists and turns with waves, rapids and spins. Alongside this will be a100,000-square-foot pool, Royal Caribbean’s largest Splashaway Bay with waterslides for little ones and family-sized cabanas nearby.
For adults only, El Hideaway is a party zone offering a beach-entry pool, swim-up bar and in-pool DJ, plus a party cabana with private pool and bar for 20 guests. Other neighbourhoods include Chill Beach with nearly two miles of beaches and Fiesta Plaza, home to live music, dance and a bar, topped by the world’s largest sombrero.
For guests looking to upgrade their beach day, Costa Beach Club provides access to white-sand beaches, a heated infinity pool and premium dining.

The island will be home to 12 dining options, all regionally inspired, as well as 24 bars, including six swim-up ones, and a programme of entertainment, from Mariachi performances to art installations.
Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, said: "As we continue to innovate and expand our offerings at sea and on land, our ambition is to offer our guests a diverse range of experiences that grow with them, turning the vacation of a lifetime into a lifetime of vacations.”
Royal Caribbean is extending its destination lineup over the next three years to six locations, including Perfect Day Mexico, Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, opening in The Bahamas in December 2025 with the world’s largest swim-up bar, and Royal Beach Club Cozumel, opening in Mexico in 2026.
Cruise itineraries featuring Perfect Day Mexico will be available to book from autumn 2025.
