Artist Dominic Harris’ creation will be installed in Viva's Metropolitan Bar

Norwegian Cruise Line’s new ship, Norwegian Viva, will display a 52ft-long piece of interactive digital art.

Norwegian Viva, which starts sailing Mediterranean itineraries in August 2023, will showcase Dominic Harris’s ‘Every Wing Has a Silver Lining’ in its Metropolitan Bar.

The artwork features silver-winged butterflies which respond to movement.

Sarah Hall Smith, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings art director, said: “I hope that guests feel as mesmerised interacting with Dominic’s art as I do.”

The piece is Harris’ biggest-ever and was specially made for Viva, the sister ship to Norwegian Prima.

Harris added: “I want each viewer to feel that their interaction with ‘Every Wing has A Silver Lining’ is an exhilarating dance with something vast, powerful and truly significant.”

After Viva has sailed Mediterranean itineraries from August, it will head to the Southern Caribbean for the winter season and offer cruises from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
