MSC Cruises hosts naming ceremony for Euribia in Copenhagen

The ship will sail on her maiden voyage from Kiel, Germany this month

MSC Cruises has welcomed its latest flagship cruise ship, MSC Euribia, into its fleet with a grand naming ceremony in Copenhagen.

Renowned Danish television host, actress and model Sarah Grünewald oversaw the ceremony, and actress Sophia Loren, the godmother of nearly all ships in the MSC Cruises fleet, officially named the ship.

The ceremony featured live entertainment, speeches, a gourmet gala dinner and a DJ set by French DJ Bob Sinclar.

In a significant step towards the company’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, departing on 10 June from Kiel, Germany, MSC Euribia is embarking on the first zero-emissions sailing for a cruise ship. 

In its inaugural season the vessel will remain in Northern Europe, stopping in Rotterdam, Hamburg and Southampton.
