Expanded remit covers Nordic and emerging markets
Hurtigruten has promoted Iain Powell to Managing Director for the UK, Nordics and emerging markets, which includes the Middle East.
Powell first took on interim responsibility for the Nordic markets in September 2024, which has now become permanent with this expanded role.
He will be responsible for driving growth in business-to-business and business-to-consumer sectors in these regions, overseeing commercial operations, strengthening the specialist’s market presence and ensuring it continues to deliver “exceptional travel experiences”.
He will continue to report into Hurtigruten Interim Chief Commercial Officer Chris Roe.
Powell joined Hurtigruten last year when he was appointed Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for the UK and EMEA regions, following the departure of Anthony Daniels.

Powell said: “As our home market, the Nordics have always been a cornerstone of Hurtigruten’s global strategy, holding deep significance for our brand and heritage.
“Stepping into interim responsibility last September was both a privilege and an exciting challenge. Now I’m thrilled to take on this permanent role, leading our efforts across the UK, Nordics and emerging markets in EMEA.
“I’m fortunate to work alongside an exceptionally talented team whose expertise and passion will be instrumental in driving our continued success. Here’s to an exciting 2025 and beyond for Hurtigruten.”
