Tips on how to sell the destination, plus month-by-month weather and wildlife-spotting information covered
The Expedition Cruise Network (ECN) has published its first selling guide for agents covering the Galápagos Islands.
The online guide includes tips on how to sell the destination, month-by-month information on weather and wildlife-spotting opportunities, and details of activities offered by expedition cruise lines from guided nature walks to snorkelling and scuba diving.
Information on the flora, fauna and landscapes of the 13 main islands, six smaller islands and more than 100 islets is also included, in addition to an outline of a typical day in the Galápagos Islands, fees for the national park and other regulations.
Seven ECN members operate in the area: Golden Galapagos, Metropolitan Touring, National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions, Aqua Expeditions, HX Hurtigruten Expeditions and UnCruise Adventures.
Akvile Marozaite, chief executive of the Expedition Cruise Network, called the guide an “essential reference tool for agents”.

“Outside of polar, the Galápagos Islands region is a best-selling expedition cruise destination, and our members are industry pioneers in having brought these trips to market,” she said.
Marozaite added: “It can be sold as a year-round destination but there are some variables in temperature both on land and in the water, and in the wildlife to be spotted at different times of year, so knowing the destination and your clients’ preferences is key to selling this destination well.
“This guide is the second in our series and is a testament to our ongoing commitment to generating educational content.”
